An origin piece from before The Leunam Tales became The Leunam Tales.

This edition of Horatio in the Wind predates the world you know today.

Printed in 2016, years before The Leunam Tales found their final form, this widescreen hardcover represents the very first attempt to bring Horatio into the world. The universe carried a different name. The format was different. The vision was still becoming itself.

These remaining copies are not reproductions.
They are not revised.
They will never be reprinted.

They exist as they were.

What makes this edition different

  • The only widescreen hardcover format of Horatio in the Wind ever produced

  • Printed in Canada in 2016, before the current Leunam Tales universe existed

  • Carries the original universe name used at the time

  • Out of print and permanently discontinued

  • Limited remaining stock from the original print run

This edition captures the story before refinement, before market success, before certainty. It is the raw beginning.

A note from the author

“These books were printed at a time when I had no idea how to bring Horatio into the world.
They moved with me through cities, uncertainty, and years of effort.
Today, they represent perseverance, belief, and the quiet victory of not giving up.”

— José Oldenburg

Each copy includes a handwritten note from the author, acknowledging its place in the origin of the work.

Why I wrote these books

When I was nine years old I wrote a story about a brave boy who faced the one thing every kid eventually asks about.

Decades later, that story became the origin of The Leunam Tales.

I built a kingdom out of Venezuela, filled it with heroes that look like the kids I grew up with, and made it into something I wish I had on my shelf as a child.

That's what these books are. The stories I needed and couldn't find.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is shipping included?
Yes. Free shipping store wide. Packages ship within one business day of your order.

Is the artwork AI-generated?
Absolutely not. Every page was hand-illustrated digitally by Robert Nailon (Book 1) and Gregorio Utrera Medina (Book 2). Two distinct styles that feel like part of the same world while giving each book its own voice. 164 pages of real craftsmanship.

What age are these books for?
Recommended for ages 8 and up. Parents, grandparents, and teachers love them too. Younger kids can enjoy them with an adult reading along.

Are the audio companions included?
Yes. Both cinematic audio companions come included with the box set and are also available on Spotify, Apple, Audible, and all major platforms. Listening instructions come with your purchase and sample tracks are available on this page.

What are the books about?
Two siblings in a fantasy kingdom inspired by Venezuela face adventures that deal with big questions about family, courage, and what we're willing to do for the people we love. Think The Little Prince meets Studio Ghibli, with Latin characters and art on every page.

Are these sad books?
They're brave books. The stories don't shy away from real emotions, but they're fantasy adventures first. Kids get absorbed in the quest and the art. Parents tell us the conversations that follow are the best part.
