Jose Oldenburg portrait

Who is Jose Oldenburg?

Jose Oldenburg is a Miami-based author and filmmaker whose work blends philosophy, cinematic craft, and heart. Trained in film school in Los Angeles—and with nearly a decade working as a camera crane operator on independent productions—Jose composes each picture book like a sequence of moving frames. His cinematic audio companions, complete with orchestral scores, layered sound design, and his own narration, create the feeling of a movie unfolding in your hands.

The Stories He Creates

Jose’s literary world began with Horatio in the Wind, a lyrical tale of a young prince who discovers a mysterious crystal that reveals a hidden realm and reshapes his understanding of life and time.

The story deepens in Rose Marie and the Crystal of Desires, where Princess Rose Marie confronts the same crystal and must find the courage to let go when the past pulls close.

A young adult sequel, August Enchanted, arrives in summer 2026, continuing the series’ themes of presence, transformation, and inner awakening.

Inspired by Stoic thinkers, Eckhart Tolle, Alan Watts, and filmmakers such as Guillermo del Toro, Jose weaves together life, death, memory, and acceptance in stories that speak to children and the inner child in adults. His books are nondenominational and written to help families move gently from fear to love.

Kirkus Reviews describes the series as

“A lushly illustrated tale series that underscores living fully, appreciating loved ones, and accepting loss.”
