Jose Oldenburg is a Miami based author and filmmaker whose work blends philosophy, cinematic craft, and heart.
Trained in film school in Los Angeles and with nine years working as a camera crane operator on indie productions, Jose composes each book like a sequence of movie frames so readers feel motion on the page. His cinematic audio companions, with orchestral scores, layered sound design, and his own narration, create the feeling of a movie in your lap.
His debut picture book world began with Horatio in the Wind, a lyrical tale of a young prince drawn to a mysterious crystal that reveals a hidden realm and reshapes his kingdom and his understanding of what it means to truly live.
That world expands in Rose Marie and the Crystal of Desires, where Princess Rose Marie uncovers the same crystal and must discover the meaning of time and the courage to say goodbye. A forthcoming young adult sequel, August Enchanted, continues these motifs in summer 2026.
Influenced by Stoic thinkers, Eckhart Tolle, Alan Watts, and filmmakers such as Guillermo del Toro, Jose weaves themes of life, death, presence, and letting go into stories that speak to children and the inner child in adults.
His books are nondenominational and designed to move families from fear to love.
Kirkus calls the series "A lushly illustrated tale series that underscores living fully, appreciating loved ones, and accepting loss."
